Grateful

When dealing with spiritual warfare it is so easy to take for granted the fact that we are saved. We use the word saved so much we hardly know what it means anymore. It means that you are totally helpless and unless someone comes to your rescue you are doomed to die. How grateful would we be if we really understood what it meant to be saved from the destruction that could have been our fate.

On the radio I heard a story about a man who was traveling through Wisconsin on vacation with his family and they were involved in a car accident that set the car on fire. The family was rescued by volunteers who were able to get them out before they were killed by the flames. He was so grateful that he is moving his whole family to Wisconsin. He had no other way to show how grateful he was other than to change his whole lifestyle to be close to those who saved his life. Am I grateful for what Christ has done for me? Does my lifestyle reflect that I am grateful for being rescued?

In Ephesians 6 it tells us to put on the helmet of salvation. This is not for us to be saved but a constant reminder that if we are going to stand up against the devils flaming arrows then we need to remember what we are promised.

John 1:12 Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God—

2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come! 18All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: 19that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting men's sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation.Have you forgotten what you were before?

Ephesians 2:1 says,"As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins,"

The reason we need the Helmet of salvation is because Satan knows if he can get you to doubt your right standing with God then he can get you to be ineffective. When you are grateful to God for all that He has done it will change the way you act. A soldier would be hesitant to go into battle without a helmet on and Christians that do not remember how God changed their status from dead to alive, from enemies to children, will also not be as effective in this life.
